| What is the meaning of Happiness? Happiness is the cognitive perception of positive emotion . . so how do we achieve cognitive perception of positive emotion? thankyou-Universe has an opinion on these questions and turned, once again, to the Internet to see what others are writing. See what Wikipedia has to say about the meaning of happiness. After reading many, many articles about happiness and many, many testimonials from individuals, the search seemed to point toward a consensus that the meaning of happiness is; .. "being at peace with oneself and the world. It happens when your mind (intent), body (action) and spirit(conscience) vibrate in unison. A rare occurrence when you leave it to chance but can happen all the time if you consciously seek it." (comment from India) .. "knowing who you are and being at peace with yourself." (comment from USA)
Is it really happiness we strive for or well-being? Maybe the definition of happiness is the feeling of well-being. If this is the case, what does an individual need to do to obtain the feeling of well-being? Both happiness and well-being are positive feelings (positive emotions). Research states that approximately 40% of one's ability to recognize positive emotion results from actions that individuals deliberately engage in for the purpose of becoming happier. If this is true and 40% of one's ability to recognize positive emotion is derived from the self-pursuit of it, then the practice of Positive Lifestyle; including Positive Thinking, Gratitude, and Forgiveness will result in increased happiness and well-being! If this is true, achieving your goals or getting the "stuff" you want is not what makes you happy. What really makes you happy is the pursuit of achievement. If happiness is the pursuit of achievement then . . .
What is well-being? Well-being is feeling good about oneself, having no ill-will toward others, and thankfulness for all that you have.
Conclusion If you want to be happy, pursue achievement of your goals and desires. Well-being will come when your pursuit of achievement supports your belief system.
